On Monday night, Grammy-nominated electronic group Sofi Tukker closed out The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, performing their newest hit, “Best Friend”.
This was much more than your average Tonight Show performance, though, as Sofi Tukker was able to bring The Knocks and NERVO along, both of whom are featured on the studio track. Watch the video below:
Having seen both Sofi Tukker and The Knocks live, this performance sticks out because of size of the stage and audience. It was fun to see The Knocks get out from behind the DJ Booth and jam out on stage to the energetic beat. Sofi Tukker seemed to fit naturally on the Tonight Show stage and were able to play off of each other in a way that seemed effortless compared to their performances in larger venues like Barclays Center.
Throughout the video, both The Knocks and NERVO took turns front and center on stage with Sofi Tukker for a bit of fun call-and-response. By the end of the video, all three acts are out front engaged in the viral chorus.
The Knocks hail from New York, so pulling them together to join Sofi Tukker for the Tonight Show doesn’t seem like a stretch in terms of logistics. After all, why not get face time on one of the most watched late night shows? However, NERVO are from Australia, but were coincidentally in New York City as they’re slated to perform on MTV’s Total Request Live this Wednesday, 1/10. Sofi Tukker also performs on TRL this Thursday. TRL begins at 4PM EST.
Best Friend has been streamed more than 30 million times across streaming platforms.
