New Music: Ruuth’s “So Heavy” Is An Airy Bop

Listen to indie pop singer Ruuth’s brand-new single “So Heavy.”

German pop artist Ruuth released her second single,”So Heavy” on Friday. Contrary to the song’s name and lyrical content, its production is bouncy and playful, giving listeners a feel-good vibe for a song that’s lyrically speaking about escaping suffocating and melodramatic relationships:

“Why does it have to be so heavy
Why do we drag each other down
We could be happy if you’d let me
But we keep crashing into doubt
Keep on fighting over things we should be letting go
Now we wonder why we’re always ending up alone
So heavy
Why don’t we help each other Out”

The single comes following Ruuth’s success after her May single “All About,” featured at #1 on Spotify’s Fresh Finds playlist (and Early Bird’s TGINMF 5/4!) the Monday after its release. With its relatable lyrics and playful melodies, it wouldn’t surprise at all if “So Heavy” puts Ruuth back up at the top of Fresh Finds, since it’s even more uptempo and bright than its predecessor. “So Heavy” might remind listeners of a lot of the music that made Tove Styrke so popular – and that’s quite the compliment!

Keep an eye out for Ruuth – there’s a lot of great music from the up-and-coming singer/songwriter on the way.
