For Early Bird’s final show coverage of 2018, I made my way to the Manhattan Center’s Hammerstein Ballroom for AJR’s last show of The Click Tour. The two-year support tour has been very successful for the trio of brothers, who announced the album recently received Gold Status  from the RIAA.

In 2017, on the first round of The Click Tour, AJR was performing in the 575 capacity Bowery Ballroom; on Friday night, they sold out the 3,500 capacity Hammerstein Ballroom with their rabid young fan base.

AJR took off in 2014 with “I’m Ready,” the Spongebob Squarepants-sampled track that put them on the map, eventually hitting platinum status. This tour wasn’t about “I’m Ready” though, as AJR didn’t even perform the track during the night. This night was solely focused on songs from their innovative debut album The Click, and fans were not disappointed in the slightest. The AJR brothers, Adam (bass), Jack  (vocals) and Ryan (keys) were jumping, spinning and running all over the stage, keeping fans both entertained and maybe even a little bit dizzy throughout.

Following an emotional  speech about how the album came to be, the brothers played their song “Turning Out” to the crowd, who screamed the words back in a memorable moment from the night.  They also gave the fans a live tutorial of how they pieced together their most successful song of 2018, “Burn the House Down.”

Check out the videos and the rest of the highlights from the night in the gallery below.

Although The Click era is now complete, keep an eye out for AJR in 2019, as a sophomore album from the unequivocally current indie trio is already in the works.
