Thutmose’s first single of 2019 is another step in the right direction for the rising Brooklyn rapper.

Thutmose gave fans his first taste of 2019 today, as he shared his new single “Wait Up.”

Sonically, Thutmose’s first single of 2019 is a nice change of pace as he starts off the new year. His sing-rapping style shines in “Wait Up,” which stands out among the plethora of trap music and autotune that permeates urban music right now. Thutmose incorporates a brighter, more upbeat style in “Wait Up” that I think will be a pivoting point for his music this year as he continues to evolve. “Wait Up” comes on the back of his hit “Memories” from the motion picture soundtrack for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The songs have similarly positive vibes, and if this is the direction Thutmose is moving, we’re all in.

Thutmose’s next concert in New York is February 21st at Elsewhere Hall, opening for MadeinTYO. Tickets are still available.
