It was a special Valentine’s day for H.E.R. (real name Gabriella Wilson) this year, when she performed at Sony Hall in NYC for Sony’s Lost In Music live concert series. Less than a week after taking home her first two GRAMMYs for Best R&B Performance (“Best Part” with Daniel Caesar) and Best R&B Album (H.E.R.) she played in front of a sold-out crowd of industry members, day-one fans, and new recruits for a full hour-long set, playing her fan-favorites from her whole discography.
Wilson showed off her impressive versatility throughout the set, not only singing but playing acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass and drums over the course of the night. She even brought out the same clear-bodied guitar that she featured during her GRAMMYs performance. The sold-out venue was with H.E.R. from the jump, packing both of the VIP sections and the general floor to a near-immovable capacity up until the end of the show, enjoying drinks, appetizers and H.E.R.’s beautifully modern brand of R&B that has finally broken through and allowed her to become in internationally-known artist.
Next time you see H.E.R., it’s going to be in a much larger setting than Sony Hall – this songstress is on a rapid ascent to stardom.
