One of my favorite new songs from the past week, Kailee Morgue breaks out of the dark corners of her bedroom and into mainstream with her new single. The empowering queer pop power anthem features a sample of The Pixies’ “Where Is My Mind?” and speaks to her struggles with bipolar disorder.
One of my favorite songs of 2018, Rufus Du Sol’s “Treat You Better” is pleasantly chill while still having a driving beat that keeps things uptempo. Rufus Du Sol know how to create anthems, and this may be one of their best yet.
A trop house remix of Fatboy Slim’s iconic song brings a nice refresh to an all-time classic.
Jax Jones comes to Brooklyn on April 20th for a live set that will feature all of his new songs from his debut Snacks EP, along with plenty of new material mixed in with today’s biggests hits.
03/18: “Meant To Be” by SG Lewis
One of my favorite songs from one of my favorite emerging artists, “Meant To Be” was one of SG’s earliest singles, co-written with Chad Hugo, one half of one of Sam’s biggest musical influences, The Neptunes.
03/17: “No New Friends” by LSD
The newest hit from LSD comes a four weeks ahead of LSD’s eponymous debut album, just in time for Spring.
My pick for song of the week comes from Grace VanderWaal’s whimsical single off of the new Paramount Pictures movie “Wonder Park,” out in theatres now. Check out the ukelele-filled song and the movie trailer below.
03/14: “Dissolve” by Absofacto
One of the cooler videos of 2017 has resurfaced back into the public eye after receiving new life from the viral app Tik Tok. Check out the trippy and well-choreographed music video:
03/13: “Sanity” by Chet Faker
Of of my favorite songs of 2019 so far comes from Down Under, where Nick Murphy aka Chet Faker’s “Sanity” was born. The Aussie’s album Run Fast Sleep Naked comes out April 26th of this year.
An artist to watch, Arizona’s UPSAHL has a new EP out. The standout single on the EP, “All My Friends Are Rich” is one a lot of us can relate to – when you don’t have the funds and your friends do, it’s really easy to look inside to reflect on priorities.
The Glorious Sons’ 2017 single is finally having its day in the sun, hitting number one on the active rock charts for the first time this January, and continues to feel fresh despite its relative age.
03/09: “Flavor” by Maren Morris
The hands-down best and most transformative country singer in the game finally has her sophomore album, GIRL, out for the world to hear. Released on International Women’s Day, it’s a brilliant move that further underscores Morris’ spot at the top of the game.
03/08: “Lo/Hi” by The Black Keys
The Black Keys are back, headed on tour, and headlining the 50th anniversary of Woodstock. What more could rock fans ask for?
The most underrated song from the Fifty Shades Freed soundtrack comes from a collab from Jacob Banks and future bass duo Louis The Child. Check out this soulful bop ASAP:
03/06: “Mess” by Noah Kahan
PUPPIES – I REPEAT – PUPPIES. Noah Kahan continues his upward rise while on tour with James Bay across the US – his debut album is due out this spring.
Alan Walker always makes incredible music videos, and the video for “Tired” is no exception. The video takes place in a distopian world in contrast to the typical utopian or futuristic worlds that Walker has helped imagine.
“Good Time” is a feel-good song that brings back the best vibes of the early 2010’s bands like Hot Chelle Rae, but with modern production courtesy of producer Pete Nappi and DJ/singer Samantha Ronson, the sister of super-producer Mark Ronson.
03/03: “Bad Vibes” by K.Flay
K.Flay’s first single in over a year is a great and catchy tune about not-great-shitty-people.
Celebrity wives, sex appeal, and new J Bros? Hell yes! Check out the awesome new song and epic music video below.
the Jonas brothers are BACK and they’ve had SEX— niki ang (@nicolaang) March 2, 2019
My pick for song of the week comes from A R I Z O N A ‘s newest single about breaking up with someone who is looking for love that you can’t provide. Something that can provide that kind of love: PUPPIES, CATS, GOATS, AND CHICKS <3
