Chicago’s favorite duo since Pippen and Jordan might just be Robby Hauldren and Freddy Kennett these days. The Chicago-bred boys who make up the production duo Louis The Child seem to have completely taken their home city’s interest in the past few years, as their stardom has continued to rise in the EDM scene. To wrap up a banner weekend that saw their celebrity at an all-time high as they played a 5:00 set on Lolla’s Bud Light Main Stage, the two hosted a late night dance party, Louis The Child’s Playground (based on their podcast of the same name), later the same night at Metro Chicago near Wrigleyville.
Playground opened with sets from Win and Woo with Ilo Ilo, and ultimately even saw an appearance from Benny the Bull, Chicago’s favorite sports mascot. Throughout the night, Louis the Child played their biggest hits and favorite new finds in an energetic mix that kept the crowd entertained and begging for more, as the set pushed into the night and ended at nearly 3AM.
After the crowd roused the duo to play one more song at the end of the night, the duo brought all of their friends out on stage to party one last time to their hit single “Better Not,” one last time.
Overall, the Playground party was one of the most fun nights I’ve had the pleasure to be a part of, and one I highly recommend for any fans of future bass and pop-infused dance music. If you’ve never been able to make it out to a Louis The Child show, their debut album will be released in the fall and will likely be followed by a headlining tour across North America – you can follow them on Spotify to get notified of early-access tickets to make sure you don’t miss out.…………………………………………
